Gabriel Bohm Calles attempts to restore a ruptured bodily relationship and explore the ontology of movement. His performances push the boundaries of self, drawing on a rich tradition of Butoh dance. The works revolve around the tension between society and self, mediated through the body and the identities inscribed in its movements from personal history, class, race, gender and age.
He has exhibited and performed both as solo artist and in groups in among other places Bildmuseet and Verkligheten in Umeå, Malmö Konsthall and Tate Modern, London. He has also performed on stage with SU EN Butoh Company on several occasions.
